An innovative education technology solutions company based in Ghana is seeking to employ a Technology Officer. We are currently seeking a talented and dynamic Technology Officer to join our team and drive the technological aspects of our mission forward.

Position Overview:
As the Technology Officer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technology landscape of the company. You will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of our technology infrastructure and solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of cutting-edge educational products and services that have a significant impact on the education sector in Ghana.

Responsibilities:
Web Solutions Development: Proficient in the creation and implementation of web applications and websites, with a strong focus on user experience and functionality.
Mobile Solutions Development: Proficient in developing mobile applications, with a strong focus on user experience and functionality.
Content Management Systems: Proficient in managing and customizing Content Management Systems (CMS), particularly WordPress, for website development and facilitating effective content creation and management.
API Development and Integration: Capable of developing and integrating APIs.
Software Engineering Expertise: Good knowledge of software engineering processes.
Learning Management System (LMS) Support and Customization: Ability to support content creators in setting up modules, uploading content, publishing, and other technical issues related to the LMS.
Server Management: Skilled in server management, including configuration, maintenance, and security measures.
Technical Presentation Skills: Strong ability to convey technical concepts effectively through presentations and training sessions.
Collaborative Team Player: Works effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve organizational objectives.
Willingness to Relocate: Open to relocating to project sites across Ghana on a temporary or permanent basis.
Mentoring and Training: Ability to mentor and train junior officers, fostering professional growth within the team.
Brand Positioning & Marketing: Advancing the interest of the company and pitching the services of the company to potential higher education clients.

Required Competencies:
Programming Languages: Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in EdTech development, such as PHP, Laravel, Flutter, React, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Java, or C#. The choice of language may depend on the specific technology stack and project requirements.
Web Development: Strong knowledge of web development technologies, including PHP, Laravel, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Understanding of front-end frameworks (e.g. React, Tailwind, Angular, or Vue.js) and back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Django, Ruby on Rails) is essential for building interactive web-based educational tools and platforms.
Mobile App Development: Proficiency in mobile app development for iOS and Android platforms using languages like Swift, Kotlin, or cross-platform frameworks like React Native or Flutter.
Amazon Web Services (AWS): Demonstrated expertise in utilizing AWS cloud services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Lightsail and DynamoDB. Experience in deploying and managing applications on AWS, implementing scalable and secure cloud infrastructure, and leveraging AWS services to optimize performance and cost-efficiency. Ability to design and implement robust, highly available, and fault-tolerant solutions on the AWS platform. Strong understanding of AWS security best practices and familiarity with monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting tools within the AWS ecosystem.
Database Management: Familiarity with using both relational and non-relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to store and manage educational data, user profiles, and content.
API Development and Integration: The ability to develop and integrate third-party APIs and services into educational applications, facilitating features like authentication, content delivery, and communication tools.
Version Control: Proficient use of version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development, code management, and tracking changes in educational technology projects.
Full-Stack Development: Proficient in both mobile and web development. You must have a good understanding of both front-end and back-end development, allowing for end-to-end development and troubleshooting of educational software.
User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Design: Basic UI/UX design skills to create user-friendly and engaging interfaces for educational applications.
Content Management Systems (CMS): Familiarity with CMS platforms like WordPress or Drupal for managing educational content and websites.
Agile Development: Familiarity with agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum or Kanban) to manage development projects, iterate quickly, and respond to evolving educational needs.
Familiarity with Education Technologies: Experience working with education technologies such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), Student Management Systems (SMS), library management systems, and assessment platforms. Proficiency in configuring, customizing, and supporting these technologies to facilitate efficient content delivery, student enrollment, library management, and assessment processes.

Qualifications:
This role emphasizes practical know-how over academic qualifications. A successful candidate should be able to practically demonstrate their ability to succeed in this role.

  • Strong understanding of technology trends and their applications in the education sector.
  • Proficiency in project management, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset.
  • Familiarity with data protection and cybersecurity practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced startup environment.
  • Must be proficient in PHP, Laravel and Tailwind.
  • Experience with EdTech is a plus.
  • AWS certification(s) are a plus.
  • Proficiency in WordPress is a plus.

Compensation:
The gross salary for this position ranges between GHC34,000 to GHC40,000 per annum and the total annual compensation for the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors including the experience and anticipated value of the candidate to the company.
