My Journey in Tech: From College to Afro Technologies

As I reflect on my journey in the tech industry, I realize how quickly time flies. I graduated from college in 2022, filled with ambition and a passion for technology. My first role was with a cloud computing company, where I spent a year honing my skills and earning cloud certifications. This experience not only deepened my understanding of cloud infrastructure but also ignited my desire to explore various facets of technology.

In 2023, I returned to my alma mater as a faculty intern. Assisting professors in the classroom was a rewarding experience that allowed me to share my knowledge while learning from seasoned educators. This role reinforced my belief in the importance of mentorship and collaboration in the tech field.

Currently, I am thrilled to be a Mastercard Foundation Associate with Afro Technologies Limited as a Cloud Engineer and Mobile App Developer. While we haven’t yet embarked on mobile app development, my time here has been incredibly enriching. I have had the opportunity to work on several web applications using Laravel, which has enhanced my coding skills and taught me the intricacies of web development.

One of my significant contributions has been to our WordPress website. This experience has expanded my understanding of content management systems and the importance of user experience. Additionally, I assist in managing our AWS account, overseeing domains and ensuring our cloud resources are optimized and secure. This role has given me invaluable insights into cloud management and the operational side of technology projects.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the future with Afro Technologies. The opportunity to develop mobile applications is on the horizon, and I am eager to expand my skill set further. The support from the leadership and my team has been phenomenal, creating an environment that fosters growth and innovation.

I believe that every experience, from my college days to my current internship, has prepared me for a promising career in technology. As I continue this journey, I am motivated to contribute meaningfully to Afro Technologies and learn as much as I can along the way. I am enthusiastic about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and I look forward to making a lasting impact in the tech world.
